Originally from the Boston area, Jake has called Eugene his home since 1985, although he says he “will always be a die-hard Red Sox fan.” He joined Luvaas Cobb as an associate in 1994 and became a shareholder in 2000.
Jake’s tenacity and his ability to sort through all the facts and any complicated legal issues have been key in obtaining good results for his clients on matters as diverse as personal injury and property damage claims, construction defect and mold cases, products liability, business disputes, nursing home cases, collections, claims involving estates, unlawful trade practices, and “lemon law” cases. He also regularly defends attorneys and businesses in Fair Debt Collections Practices Act claims.
He is admitted to practice in all Oregon state and federal courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Oregon State Bar Association, Lane County Bar Association, Oregon Association of Defense Counsel and the American Bar Association.
Jake is a year-round bike commuter and dedicated marathon runner, and has qualified for the 2011 Boston Marathon. His best times are spent outdoors, backpacking, whitewater rafting, running, and working in his yard and garden. Jake is married to Cory, a teacher, and has a great dog, J.J., who gets to come to the office most Fridays.
